Exploration at Vareyagskoye field
Preconditions
The presence of reserves at the Vareyagskoye oil field was successfully forecast using a new approach for identifying low-amplitude structural culminations. It was based on a suggestion from the Neftisa geological service regarding the inheritance of anticlinal structures across all the sedimentary cover.
Implementation
The basement surface structural map was used for the first time to locate prospecting wells onto Cretaceous and Jurassic sediments. The subsequent prospecting drilling fully confirmed the correctness of geological forecasts and sedimentation conditions. Three prospecting wells have been drilled, and new high rate oil deposits have been discovered in Cretaceous sediments.
Result
Prospecting-exploration drilling efficiency was 100%. The growth in recoverable reserves of deposits was approximately 4 million tons with an oil average flow rate of 120 tons a day.
Further distribution of Yu1/2 productive formation at the Untygeyskoye field was also predicted using this method.
